Fire is supposed to be the purest. It keeps moving and swaying causing beautiful designs.
This section of my blog "Bollywood Music", is about the comments I make on my Notepad app. About the songs I hear. Many will find these comments amateurish. Some may find the comments useful.
Consider the background music with songs. Undoubtedly, Laxmikant Pyarelal were one of the best. I have a tendency to create rat rankings. So I say Laxmikant-Pyarelal is number 1. Ravindra Jain is number 2. Kalyanji Anandji is number 3.

Hindustani raags and the hands on dafli

I have already talked about tempo and its application in identifying hindustani raags.
I wrote about Pahadi, Bhairavi and also Kirwani. These are important raags of filmy composers.
I wrote about my interest in learning Raag Maand. But it remained a mirage in the desert. A thirst that never was. A thirst quenched by the beauty of the mirage.
Raag Bhairavi is jumping and crossing a puddle of water by stepping on a rock in the middle and coming back again to the starting point. It is Maa Parvati.
Raag Pahadi is the mountains formed by tempo. Up and down, up and down.
Raag Kirwani is a composer's raag. The desire to reach double as early as possible.

Singing

Singing is practise. Voice is inborn. This is very important knowledge.
Singing can be done by concentrating on body parts. This way one can become aware of the seven notes. It is probably the kundalini awakening from Anahat naad. So the yogis may say.
I consider myself as a singer and dafli player. Both at the same time. It is only a pass time hobby.
Does singing give peace? I do not wish to answer this. I want to develop understanding.

 

Myself, Dafli and the Indian Rail

India is very vast. One will realise when one goes in a rail from one corner to another.
During my school days I was a big fan of R D Burman. He was the best. Lamikant-Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji gave occassional hits.
The journey/life in Coimbatore for engineering was an experience cherished by me. There was freedom to learn. And freedom to like what one wants. When one travels in a train for such a long journey, one is compelled to adjust to the food. Because of hunger. But memories? Love for music?
This posting is about my views on public. The common man. The person in the road with his ears plugged to radio.

Indian music is about expression of mathematical constant pi

Many purists may disagree with me. Some may scold me for modelling in mathematics. But I have a natural inclination for mathematics and feel my duty to throw some light in this area.
In the northern and southern music there are 22 shrutis. Out of which 7 are important. 7/22 is 1/pi.
I will comment on Shrutis and swars in this section. Please feel free to blog your opinion.
