The music of Ranchi

 

The music of Ranchi is most amazing.  They are good.  They are rhythmic.  Congo is mostly used. They are modern.  They are tribal. They have been recorded in modern studios. 

You get to listen to them from loudspeakers during marriages and special occasions.  The local radio stations too play these songs in the afternoon.  

I asked my friend what are these songs called? He told me a term. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact word.

I am mostly a loner and am interested in drawing and some equations.  So I did not venture into discovering about the songs. The modern and tribal variety with excellent beats.

I shall get back to you in a day or two with the name of this type of songs.  I shall provide a link to the particular genre of song that I am mentioning if possible.

Original Sound Track of Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2

I am a big fan of Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2. Like Sholay and Qayamat se qayamat tak.

A R Rahman announced two days back that they are going to release original soundtrack of PS1 and PS2.

The dates are awaited eagerly.  I remember two tracks. The title music of PS1. And "Soodanathu rathham" from PS2.

I currently listen to songs of PS1 and PS2 often on Amazon music in my Bose 500. When the OST is released I shall be eager to listen to that as well.

Udit Narayan

Udit Narayan is remembered the most for "Papa kehte hain" and "Jadoo teri nazar" songs.

As the music industry is changing and orchestra is less, people are forgetting old heroes of bollywood music.

Kumar Sanu was able to fill the void left, when Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar died.

It was extraordinary that Kumar Sanu fitted well with both Jatin- Lalit and Nadeem-Shravan.

Mohit Chauhan

Mohit Chauhan is an outstanding singer in Bollywood. I remember his songs "Haafiz Khuda" , "Tum Ho" a lot. And many others.

This background music kept me haunting

The above background score of 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' kept me haunting when I first saw in Tamil on April 28th. I was haunted enough and I decided to see 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' again. But I made a mistake. I saw it in Hindi this time. And alas this score is absent in Hindi dubbed version.

The beats and the voice are mesmerizing, I feel.

I want to stress two points from Kalki Krishnamurthy's 'Ponniyin Selvan'. They are

1. Arunmozhi Verman made a supreme sacrifice of his crown by handing it over to Madhuranthakan, his paternal uncle. Much like Sardar Patel gave up his claim of prime ministership in favor of Jawaharlal Nehru.

2. Hindu shaivite god-mother Oomai Rani shared her womanhood with two local shaivite kings Sundara Chola and Veerapandiyan. A question mark on Nehruvians?

And I also saw for the second time because I wanted to closely observe Chiyaan Vikram's acting. I agree with YouTube vloggers. Chiyaan Vikram has tremendous acting skills. His intensity was great in many occasions. Especially when he comes to know from Nambi that Arunmozhi Verman is alive. And also the intense scene with Nandini in Kadambur palace.

Jatin Lalit were and are hugely popular. Their popularity equals or exceeds the popularity R D Burman enjoys

No wedding in Northern regions of India are complete without the songs of Jatin Lalit being played at the wedding reception.

Vanraj Bhatia

Vanraj Bhatia was a great music director.  He is remembered for outstanding work with Shyam Benegal movies and TV serials.

He is fondly remembered for Garden sarees ad jingle.

He did not get the recognition or the fame that he actually deserves. But he is a hero in the hearts of many followers of music.

Super star of music MMKeerawani

 

I had some free time in the office. And I did the cartoon of MMKeerawani on a regular A4 sheet with a locally available HB pencil. 

MMKeerawani did us proud by winning an Oscar for 'Naatu Naatu ' song. ❤️.  I remember his song 'Jadoo hai Nasha hai' .

I am more of a Ilayaraja guy. But I like the jingles of A R Rahman a lot. A R Rahman is damn good in jingles.  But I never really listened to songs of A R Rahman with concentration actually. 

I liked "Ponni Nadhi Pakkanume " song of Ponniyin Selvan 1 a lot.

The producers of Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2 promised to release one song of Ponniyin Selvan  2 on Valentines day.  But the song was never released till date. I wonder why !!

Eagerly waiting for music and songs of Ponniyin Selvan 2. My good wishes. 

Naatu Naatu song wins Golden Globe award

 'Naatu Naatu' song has won Golden Globe award 2023. It is a prestigious achievement. 

Keeravani, the music director of the movie 'RRR' in which the song 'Naatu Naatu' appears.

Wow !! That is awesome Keeravani and SSRajamouli (producer of 'RRR').
