I am more of a Ilayaraja guy. But I like the jingles of A R Rahman a lot. A R Rahman is damn good in jingles. But I never really listened to songs of A R Rahman with concentration actually.
I liked "Ponni Nadhi Pakkanume " song of Ponniyin Selvan 1 a lot.
The producers of Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2 promised to release one song of Ponniyin Selvan 2 on Valentines day. But the song was never released till date. I wonder why !!

ReplyDeleteIlayaraja composed 3 note song. He used one octave for Pallavi. And he used another octave too for Charanam. He jumped 12 scales.
Our Pallavan ARRehman jumped. Using pairs.
Sa re, re ga, ma pa, pa dha and dha ni only. No next octave.
That is what 6 songs of Ponniyin Selvan 2 are about.
You may note that there is no charanam.
You may note that there are hardly any beats.
Gamakas is an ornamental note.
