Kalyanji Anandji

I am too small to say something about Kalyanji-Anandji. They were outstanding.

I had free time in office and I drew this sketch on a normal A4 sheet with a Camlin Flora HB pencil. It took me about 20 minutes of time.

Last week I saw the movie "Yun hota to kya hota". The music was by Viju Shah, who is the son of Kalyanji. The song "Yun hota to kya hota" was outstanding. I liked it so much. Every day once in the last week I listened to this song at least once in my Bose 500. I find this song extremely good. My dear blog readers kindly listen to this song in You Tube or other source and blog your comments below.

Anu Malik

Anu Malik is a fantastic music director. Who can forget the songs of Main hoon na? Or Sir? Or Akele hum akele tum?

Keep going Anu Malik. Your fans are looking forward to great music from you.

Rahul Dev Burman

R D Burman was hugely popular.  He was lively. He was rhythmic. He was experimental.  He was terrific. 

I tried his caricature.

Bappi Lahiri

Bappi Lahiri needs no introduction. He was a great human being. He was a great composer and the masses loved his disco songs.

I made a caricature of Bappi Lahiri. I did not use black sketch pen as I thought it may ruin the dark glasses rendering. So I left the caricature in pencil.

Jaidev

Jaidev was a great music director. He is remembered for outstanding songs in Gharonda. 

I have made a caricature of his. 

Salil Chowdhury

When you listen to songs "Kahin door jab din dal jaaye" or "Dil tadap tadap ke keh raha hai aa bhi ja" or "Itna na mujhse tu pyaar bada", you think of the speciality of the music. The different from the normal is evident. The picture arises.

Naushad

Naushad is a famous music didirector. Though I have listened to his songs, I have started to listen to his music recently. 

Naushad saab seems a simple man. His music is great. He was prolific too.

Guys and gals, you have a great role in promoting Indian music. Just by listening.  Just by sharing.  Just by passing your comments.  Our music is world class. Our range is tremendous.  Our style mesmerizing.  Share in media. Comment in media.  Promote in media.

Let's together make the flag of bollywood music flying high.

Is there genius thing in songs ?

Songs are but 7 notes. So at the most they are great combinations. But my point is, is there a thing called genius in songs? Yes, it is possible. 

I list these songs as genius from Indian cinema.

As my knowledge is limited and am not too focused, I am not able to make an exhaustive list. I want to include all the known music directors.

I keep listening to them again and again

When I was in school in Delhi we would listen to Hindi Jesudas songs a lot. It became a habit. And the songs were deeply internalized.  

We would also listen to Talat Mehmood and Manna Dey.

Then I went to Coimbatore for electrical engineering course in BE. I bought a Walkman and listened to popular Tamil songs.

Time waits for no one. But the effects of music are deep and memories remain. I listen to these four songs again and again. 

En jeevan paduthu. K J Jesudas. Ilaiyaraja.

Un nenjai thottu solu. Chitra. Ilaiyaraja.

Jab tak poore na ho phere saath. Nadiya ke paar. Ravindra Jain. 

Koun disha mein. Nadiya ke paar. Ravindra Jain. 

I get the feeling of rural India. Of Southern India. Of Northern India. 

I want my South Indian blog readers to listen to the above two Ravindra Jain songs. And the North Indian blog readers to listen to Ilaiyaraja songs. And appreciate the greatness of rural India.

He trained Ilayaraja, ARRehman, Vidyasagar and others.

Master Dhanraj had a pupil Abdul Sattar.

Abdul Sattar trained Harris Jayaraj.

Master Dhanraj is also associated with Devi Sri Prasad.
